Lobnica & Veliki Šumik

Pohorje Primeval Forest

Description

Lobnica is a mountain stream that originates at an altitude of 1,290 meters from Tihi Lake on Pohorje. The river is 15.5 km long and flows into the Drava River near Ruše. Its highest waterfall is Veliki Šumik (24 m), which is the most majestic waterfall in the Pohorje region and the largest on non-carbonate terrain in Slovenia.

Downstream lies Mali Šumik (9 m). The stream flows through Pragozd, a true primeval forest. A distinctive feature of its descent are numerous cascades that swell into full waterfalls during high flow.
