Blanščica brook - Waterfall 'Pekel'

Waterfalls of Blanščica are the most dramatic ones in the area of the Bohor highland. The chain of upper waterfalls has carved a water channel in dolomite. The total height of all waterfalls, which consist of at least four stages, is almost 50 m. The highest waterfall (17 m), which flows out of a cavity, is named Pekel (meaning "Infernal"). There is an idea to name the waterfalls above it Nebesa (meaning "Heaven").

ACCESS: From Sevnica or Krško to Blanca. Follow the asphalt road along the Blanščica brook toward G. Leskovec. Turn onto the road leading to the Požun farm (private property—please be respectful). From the farm, a rut leads into the ravine.

The path leads above the brook, so it is easy to miss the first 5 m high and 3 m wide waterfall hidden at the bottom of the ravine. The rut soon changes into a path where ruins of the old Požun mill are still visible. After a 20-minute walk, the slope becomes very steep and the Pekel waterfall (17 m) appears.

Note: A very steep path leads to the top of the upper waterfalls. It is recommended only for experienced hikers with proper mountain boots. The upper waterfalls ("Nebesa") reach a height of approximately 15 m each.
