Description

Only a few kilometers northwest of Ljubljana is the peak of Tošč (1021 m). Below the hill is a ravine with a nameless brook, which locals simply call "The Waterfall" (Slap). The stream creates an admirable series of cascades, overcoming a height of nearly 60 m (197 ft).

The system consists of 5 main waterfalls, ranging from 5 to 15 meters in height. The lower three waterfalls slide over bare rock, followed by a 2-meter jumper, which is the only one falling into a pool. The upper two waterfalls are hidden in the forest and can be classified as tufa waterfalls. The brook is active throughout the year, but is most scenic in winter when it transforms into an icy track.

Access

From the village of Sora, follow the road along the Ločnica stream towards Topol. At Trnovec, take the macadam road toward the Rovtar farm. After about one kilometer, where the road begins to climb steeply in a bend, the cascades appear. There is no formal path to the top, and the climb along the stream is steep and slippery; hiking boots are highly recommended.
