Shelter – the “bivouac” is named after mountaineer and mountain rescuer Pavle Kemperl. It was built at an altitude of 2102 meters, on the flat plateau of Veliki podi beneath the eastern wall of Grintovec (2558 m a.s.l.), the highest peak in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

The first bivouac was erected here in 1973 by the Kamnik Mountain Rescue Service (DGRS Kamnik), and due to deterioration, it was replaced in 2009. The architect of the new bivouac is Miha Kajzelj, who received the Plečnik Medal in 2011 for its successful realization.

The interior of the small bivouac is arranged across three levels with a total floor area of 14 m², connected by a ladder. The upper two levels are intended for sleeping, while the ground floor serves as a living space with a table. According to estimates, the shelter can “comfortably” accommodate up to eight mountaineers.
